Prince William plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, as announced by the royal household.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

Father and son were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering organized in partnership with the United Kingdom administration.

Climate Leadership Dedication

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have portrayed the Prince's participation at the next COP as stepping up an important role in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were greeted attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation featured addresses alongside President Emmanuel Macron of France and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Link

The UN meeting will dovetail with the the royal's climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the day before he joins the climate conference on 6 November.

In recent days the prince characterized the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The King has been a key figure at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks confronting humanity over climate change, environmental shifts and species extinction," the King told attendees.
